Our Parish has been busy and vibrant with back to school masses, PSR classes and enriching activities.
RCIA has begun here at the Parish. Deacon Jeff and myself facilitate the program journeying with newcomers to the faith through the discernment of becoming a full member of the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil.
We have 5 candidates, please pray for Wes, Dru, Steve, Jill and Chris

FALL FESTIVITIES

Wow the summer months flew by and here we are full swing into the fall and the school year!
Here are a few things coming up this fall with a look back on our summer events.

Our Ministry Fair is coming up the weekend of the 23 and 24th of September after each of our weekend
masses. 4:30 Saturday, 9 and 11 Sunday.  It is a wonderful opportunity to see what we do and who
we serve in the community and how you can get involved and share your gifts and talents!

Don't miss the Chagrin Falls Documentary Film Fest October 5th for our Salad Lunch and viewing 10 am to 1pm.

This Fall we also look forward to Trapper Jack's presentation
The Eucharist, a Hard truth to Swallow sponsored by the Women's guild. I was privileged
to see this event earlier last year and it is not to be missed!!

Look for another Healing Service from Peter's Shadow Ministry late October, early November.

We are also starting our brown bag lunch series featuring Matt Valencic and the connection
of the spiritual through nature, specifically birds.

We had wonderful activities this summer. Our Rummage sale was our biggest and best ever! We also partnered with Zelie's house and all of the mom's were sponsored for a shopping excursion and treated to dinner after right here in the falls. The collaboration in the parish ministries is a thing of beauty! We can certainly see the Holy Spirit on the move right here in our community.

Our field trip to Lourdes Shrine in Euclid was a tremendous success and an absolutely beautiful day. There were just about equal numbers of parishioners from Holy Angels and Father Max celebrated mass for us. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Alfredos in Mayfield Hts. on the way back. Look for another outing next summer, we will definitely repeat this one!

We also brought back the Parish Picnic with a Festival focus September 10, 2023 after a covid hiatus. Fun was had by all who attended! Many thanks to the team and volunteers that put it all together and worked tirelessly for its success!

Melinda Redding shared the amazing story about her father, CWO Michael Jacob Schick of the U.S. Marine core Patriots day September 11. What an incredible story of integrity and bravery inspiring to all who attended.

Welcome Friends

Hello Parish Family

Hello St. Joan of Arc Family,

Just a quick sharing of a little bit about me and my vision of Ministry.

I have been in formation devoting the last five years discerning a second wave career shift. Two years at the Ignatian Spirituality Institute at John Carroll, certified as a Spiritual Direction in 2017 and the last three years in the Lay Ecclesial Ministry Program at the Center for Pastoral Leadership to be certified, Lord willing, October 2022.
Thank you to so many of you that offered me such a warm welcome and generous hospitality as I begin my role here. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me with ideas, suggestions, and desires for parish life. It will be my pleasure to bring this vibrancy and enrichment to St. Joan’s.

A brief view of my personal ministry vision:
To welcome, companion, comfort, celebrate and evangelize from first breath to last.
Ministry involves the catechesis of the faith through the sacraments beginning at baptism and accompanying the individual throughout their life lived in faith within the community of the church.
Ministry provides counsel through struggles of the human condition we all face.
Ministry reaches out to our brothers and sisters to help them reach out to God and each other.
Ministry provides to those in need through raising up and building up, not for our own glory and pride but for the glory of God in our humility.
With only a servants heart, through truth and love should we move forward in ministering to others. Ministry should not build up the ministers but build the love of Christ in those we minister to.
Also important is to continue to strengthen of our own unique gifts and the encouragement of their use for the good of the kingdom. Support for those who minister is paramount.
Ministry is to witness and catechize not just to our parishioners but to the entire community. We should have a spirit of unity and ecumenical ideals.
Ministry encompasses mentorship and direction for all those who seek. To celebrate all of God’s blessings. To be that light of Christ that helps others see the way.

My formation journey has been rich and so rewarding and I can’t wait to share my passion for our Catholic faith with all of you! The faith filled people of St. Joan of Arc Parish. I look forward to accompanying you.

Blessings,
Millie Prebel

Volunteer Opportunities

The pastoral staff is always looking for volunteers to take Holy Communion to the homebound and to parishioners in local nursing homes. We are also looking for more people to be involved in the Women's Guild, Arc Angels for Life, Elizabeth Ministry, and the Repass Ministry. Please contact me at your convenience to learn more about these ministries. We would love to have you on our team!

Virtus Certification

VIRTUS is a nationally recognized program to train those who minister, work and volunteer on how to identify signs of sexual abuse in children. Everyone who works or volunteers with or around children MUST BE Virtus certified through the Diocese of Cleveland. Please contact me if you have questions about certification.

"Child sexual abuse is a worldwide public health issue. Child abuse, particularly child sexual abuse, is reprehensible—especially when the wrongdoer is affiliated with the Church. The VIRTUS® programs help the Church to be a safe haven for children and a messenger for child sexual abuse prevention within the Church and society in general. We seek to achieve this lofty goal through our child sexual abuse prevention program: Protecting God's Children®."
