The Penguin Project Kick-Off Meeting

Event Date: 11/15/2017 Event Time: 7pm

Wednesday, November 15, 7pm, Olsavsky Ctr.Gym
Calling all actors and actresses to a special theatre experience. Come and join the Penguin Project!! This spring, a magical and touching celebration of the human spirit will unfold as St. Joan of Arc School, Chagrin Valley Little Theatre and the Penguin Project come together to perform a modified version of the well-known play, “Annie”. Our production will be quite unique, however, because all of the roles will be filled by children with developmental disabilities. The Penguin Project, founded by Dr. Andrew Morgan, focuses on giving children with disabilities the chance to experience musical theatre in all its glory! It provides a beautiful opportunity for children with and without special needs to work together towards one common goal: show business. The Penguin Project is open to any individual ages 8 to 21 with a disability. This includes children with cognitive, learning, motor, hearing and visual impairments, genetic disorders, and neurological disorders. The Penguin Project utilizes a “peer mentor” system, linking each young artist with an age-level peer, in grades 5 - 12, who does not have a disability. The peermentors work side-by-side with their partners, assisting them throughout the entire rehearsal process and on stage. If you are interested in joining the Penguin Project, either as a peer mentor or an actress or actor, please join us in the Olsavsky Center for the Penguin Project Kickoff Meeting on Wednesday, November 15th at 7:00 PM.
