Living Together in Community
What is Christian Stewardship?
Stewardship is defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary as the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care. According to the Summary of the U.S. Bishops’ Pastoral Letter on Stewardship, Christian stewards receive God’s gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord.
Stewardship at SJA
The Stewardship Committee at St. Joan of Arc is a resource for encouraging individual parishioners to joyfully acknowledge and share the gifts of time, talent, and treasure that they have received from God. It also strives to show appreciation to all who share these gifts with the parish of St. Joan of Arc. The committee has played a part in planning appreciation events, in gathering information for a new annual parish directory and other various tasks.
"The promotion of the practice of stewardship is important for the mission of the Church and for the spiritual well-being of each individual Christian. Everyone benefits from the sacrificial gift one makes of his time, talent and treasure." -Pope Benedict XVI
