What is Eucharistic Adoration?
The U.S. Conference of Bishops explains that, "Holy hours are the Roman Catholic devotional tradition of spending an hour in Eucharistic Adoration in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament." Basic elements of a Holy Hour led by a priest or deacon include: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament (host) in a monstrance on the altar, a gospel reading and homily, adoration (silent time for reflection), hymns, prayers, incensation of the altar, and Reposition (returning the Blessed Sacrament to the tabernacle).
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a form of prayer that began centuries ago. The word adoration means “to pay honour or homage to someone or something.” The same Jesus, Whom we receive in the Eucharist at Mass is Who we worship in Adoration. Adoration is a time to sit face to face with Jesus to deepen and strengthen your relationship with Him.
Eucharistic Adoration at St. Joan of Arc
Adoration will be held inside the church on the Thursday before the First Friday of the month from 8:30am to 8:30pm. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will take place at 7:30pm. All are welcome to come and share in this beautiful experience of prayer and worship in the presence of Christ, be it 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or an hour.
