Parish Council

The Parish Pastoral Council ("PPC") is a consultative body coming together in prayer to promote the spiritual growth of SJA and plan ways to carry out the mission of the Church. Including our Pastor, Fr. John Betters, we have members with diverse backgrounds. We are dedicated to making SJA a warm, welcoming community of faith filled Catholics. Discernment of new counsel members occurs in the spring. Please contact the Parish Office for more information.

Bud Bosley

Born and raised in Pittsburgh PA, so I still have a soft spot for the Steelers. Moved to Ohio 1985. Married to Colette, four children, eight grandchildren. Enjoy fishing with the grandchildren. A parishioner at St Joan of Arc for over eight years. Best thing about being Catholic is being able to receive the Eucharist. Favorite Saint is St Joseph because I see him as a great example of being a father.

Debbie Fitzmaurice

I was raised in Marion, Ohio. My husband Pat and I have five kids. My
favorite thing about being Catholic is the spiritual nourishment of

the Eucharist and the consistency of the Mass worldwide- no matter

where we travel, I can still experience a strong sense of community

and feel at home. My favorite Saint is Veronica because I strive to

bring others the same kindness and compassion she showed in wiping the

face of Jesus.

Mark Jackson

I was born and raised in Lexington, KY. Me, my wife Mary Jane, our son Todd and daughter Lindsay relocated to Chagrin in 1990; work transfer and joined St Joan’s Parish. Lindsay graduated from St Joan’s School. My Catholic faith keeps me grounded, grateful and guided through tough times and challenges. My favorite saint is St. Jude; the patron saint of hope, which I need in times of uncertainty and difficulties.

Karen Junkin

My name is Karen Junkin, and I've been a proud and active member of our SJA community since 2013. I grew up in the lovely town of Middlefield, Ohio, and now call Bainbridge home. Being a mom is one of my greatest joys – I have two incredible boys, Milo, who's 10, and Charlie, who's 8. They keep life wonderfully busy.
When I’m not with my boys I love spending time with friends and family. Staying connected with loved ones is incredibly important to me.
One of the things I adore about being Catholic, and specifically about our SJA parish, is the incredible sense of community. There's a profound beauty in being surrounded by people who share your faith, offer unwavering support, and journey alongside you.

When it comes to my favorite Saint, that would be Saint Jude Thaddeus. I even carry a small card with his image, which serves as a constant and powerful reminder. Saint Jude, the patron saint of lost causes and desperate situations, inspires me profoundly. His story teaches us resilience and perseverance, reminding me that no matter how tough life's challenges become, we must always hold onto hope and continue forward with faith.

Michael Koehler

I was raised on the east side of Cleveland in Gesu parish and went on to become a physician currently practicing Gastroenterology.

My family and I joined Saint Joan of Arc 13 years ago. My wife is Michelle and we have 4 children (Sean 28, Patrick 26, Bridget 23 and Maggie 21). I enjoy golf, exercise and look forward to the growth and revitalization of Saint Joan of Arc for years to come joining the current leadership team.

Rob Rogers

I grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was a member of St. Joseph Parish which is one of the reasons that he is my favorite Saint. More importantly, as the guardian of the Holy Family, he was humble, and yet one of Christ's most ardent early followers.

My wife, Kris and I , moved here from Toledo 27 years ago and joined SJA 8 years ago. Our family consists of 4 children and 4 grandchildren.

I am excited about the future of our Parish and our Diocese and look forward to being a part of our next chapter!

Pattie Valencic

I grew up in Euclid and attended St. Robert Bellarmine, Regina HS, and St. John College in Cleveland. My husband of 53 years, Matt, and II joined the parish in 1985. We have 3 children and 9 grandchildren (ages 2 – 17) . “Grandchildren are a love affair,” and they are my pride and joy along with their parents. I worked as a hospital Pediatric R.N .and later owned a pet sitting business for 33 years. My hobbies are equestrian pursuits (mostly dressage and trail rides), piano, genealogy, flower gardening and reading. I have been active in RCIA, PSR, Eucharistic Ministry , Bible studies, Arts & Environment, Stewardship and Music Ministry.

My favorite Saint is St. Francis of Assisi. I pray to him often to come to my aid when any of my animals are sick or injured. I love his simplicity and love of nature.

I love being a Catholic because we have Jesus in the Eucharist and we can receive him often. I have learned to trust him and seek the peace that He brings. My faith also connects me to the values of my youth thanks to the many generations of Catholics in my family. I can almost feel them with me at mass.

I am excited to see so many new parishioners in the last year and hope that they can experience the joy and friendships that I have been blessed with here.
