Adult Choir The Adult Choir is the primary choir at St. Joan of Arc Church and features a variety of ages. They sing at the 10:00am Sunday liturgy every week from September to Pentecost Sunday.
Rehearsals are weekly on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-8:30pm (7:15-8:45pm during seasons leading to Christmas and Easter) with a warm-up on Sunday at 9:15am in the Church.
Prior choral or other musical experience will be helpful. Training will be provided during rehearsal. The average size of the ensemble during the Sunday liturgy is currently 10-12 singers.
Please check the Adult Choir Schedule for the times and dates of rehearsals and masses.
The Cantor Guild consists of animators/singers from our choirs who have a special gift of leadership. They sing at regularly scheduled weekend liturgies throughout the year. We currently feature 8 people on our cantor roster and always welcome new interest.
Cantors, please check the Cantor Schedule and Liturgy Sheets for the times and dates you are scheduled to sing.
The Children's Choir is designed for all 3rd through 8th graders. The Children's Choir rehearses 2 weeks prior to Christmas and Easter on Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm in the Church pending participant availability.
The Children's Choir sings at the 4pm Mass in Church on Christmas Eve and at the 12pm Mass on Easter Sunday. The Children's Choir is also used for our celebration of First Communion. Singers and instrumentalists are welcome from both the Parish/PSR community and from the Day School.
Student cantors and instrumentalists from the St. Joan of Arc Day School join us for weekly Tuesday morning mass at 9AM. Students cantors please take a moment to review the SJA Day School Mass and Cantor Schedule for the times and dates you are scheduled to sing. Please note: this schedule does not include TBA snow days which may affect scheduled Tuesday 9AM Masses. Please also check the Liturgy Sheets for all materials needed for the All-School liturgy, especially the Responsorial Psalm.
Hand Bell Choir
The Hand Bell Choir is not currently meeting. When meeting, the Hand Bell Choir rehearses weekly on Tuesday from 6:15-7:15pm when Adult Choir rehearses at 7:30pm and 6-7pm when the Adult Choir rehearses at 7:15pm in the Church. The Hand Bell Choir plays once a month, as well as during Christmas and Easter.
Some prior musical experience will be helpful. Training in the technique of bell playing will be provided during rehearsal. St. Joan possesses a five-octave set of Schulmerich Hand Bells. The ideal size of the ensemble during the Sunday liturgy is 10-12 people.
The Resurrection Choir consists of those who have mornings free, as our parish funerals are generally scheduled at 10:00am or 11:00am weekdays and Saturdays. As one might expect, the group features predominately retired persons and it is a wonderful opportunity to aid the grieving in their hour of need. Members of the Adult Choir participate in the Resurrection Choir as well. Members on the Resurrection Choir roster will be contacted by our Director of Music at the time a funeral is scheduled and are expected to meet fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled beginning of the funeral in the Church. Ensemble size varies with each funeral liturgy depending on the availability of participants. Please review a sample Funeral Liturgy Sheet to prepare for a meeting with the Pastoral Associate, Sr. Ann Marie Kanusek SND, or the Director of Music:
Second Sunday Praise Band
The Second Sunday Praise Band consists of youth grades 7-12 and adults. This is a new initiative to energize the youth of the Parish by offering a more contemporary style of worship. Please note that all are welcome. The Second Sunday Praise Band rehearses the last Wednesday of the month from 7-8:30pm (unless otherwise indicated) and will serve the second Sunday 12pm Mass during the Summer months. We transition to the second Sunday 5:30pm beginning in September and continue throughout the school year. The size of the ensemble is currently 8 people.
Please note: as of January 2014, the Second Sunday 5:30PM Mass has been cancelled. Please contact Patrick Wickliffe for further notice on Praise Band scheduling.
In the past ten years St. Joan of Arc has had the pleasure to hosting choral concerts of several regional vocal ensembles such as the Men of Independence (Tom Scott, dir.) and the Chagrin Valley Choral Union (J.D. Goddard, dir.).
Currently, we are not hosting concerts and are in the process of considering future musical events for the SJA community. Stay tuned!
St. Joan of Arc is pleased to offer two liturgical celebrations of the sacrament of marriage. Couples seeking to marry at St. Joan of Arc have the option to celebrate either within Mass or in a marriage ceremony with the Liturgy of the Word. Please review our marriage options to prepare for a meeting with the Presider and Director of Music:

“Praise God in his holy sanctuary; give praise in the mighty dome of heaven. Give praise for his mighty deeds; praise him for his great majesty. Give praise with blasts upon the horn, praise him with harp and lyre. Give praise with tambourines and dance, praise him with flutes and strings. Give praise with crashing cymbals, praise him with sounding cymbals. LET EVERYTHING THAT HAS BREATH PRAISE THE LORD!” Psalm 150
